Hi Everyone, I'm super-duper excited to be writing this post, at last. To be very brief, it is now April, and I was supposed to have these deleted scenes out to you a month--or more--ago. However, family, extended family, and my own health has taken priority in the recent past, and when those things happen, you do as you need to do. Anyway, now to the fun stuff. 1. Deleted scenes are here and ready for reading. Just click on the "Deleted Scenes" menu above and enjoy! I promise it's worth the read. :) 2. Ebooks are now $2.99! Last week I announced my Spring Special, because I am forging ahead with book two, Beyond the Borders, and I want everyone to get a chance to read Beneath the Surface. Also, recently, Canada Post raised its rates to $1.00 per stamp, so you know what I thought: I need to lower my price, too, to accommodate this sudden, colossal, holy-crap-it's-way-too-expensive-to-mail-a-letter-these-days increase in rates. I hope now, with the increase in postage, and the decrease in my price, the total will be the same as before, or less. At FriesenPress, paperbacks are now $13.99 CAD and hardcovers are now $18.99 CAD. To order your copies, please click on the "Novels" link above, and it will direct you to FriesenPress. 3. I'm setting up a way for people to get a signed book, even if you don't live in B.C. Having a book signing is something I just haven't been able to do, for many reasons. On the other hand, I recently talked with a very amazing author, Nashoda Rose, who showed me how to set up a PayPal way to get a book to me, then back out again to the customer, signed. Look for this in the next month. It will be costly with dual postage, but I will personalize it, and make it work for those who are interested. As for the book signing thing, I may do one with the release of Beyond the Borders, as long as time and babysitters permit! 4. Scene Hunt Sunday: The Climax. Here we go! Okay, so for any of you B.C.ers, you may have already guessed that the climax of BTS happens right in Campbell Valley Regional Park, in the Township of Langley, in a little suburb called Fernridge, just south of Brookswood. For all of you out there. This is the very place I grew up, and it is very dear to my heart. Fernridge is home to many beautiful, historic sites, full of farmland, acres of evergreens and fir trees, and for the record, I HOPE IT NEVER CHANGES, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Campbell Valley Regional Park is a giant. There are walking trails, an eleven kilometre horse trail, and so much more beauty within it. I worked at a riding stable there for many summers as a teenager, guiding rides, meeting the most wonderful people, and fulfilling my addiction for creatures that love you back way more than the love you give them. Pictures. YES! ![]() Glenwood Elementary is the heritage school Liss passes by before she hits open farmland. Again, yes, a real place. School is also still in session at Glenwood, but I'm told the heritage building here is not. I must have lots of "real" in my story. I like to be able to visit the places, it seems to serve my imagination well. ![]() This, everybody, is the home where I grew up. I had to include it here, because it's so special. It's changed a lot since I lived here. At just over 1000 square feet, my little teeny-tiny bedroom window was on the left. On the far right, there used to be a sunroom, which is now part of the house; that's where my mom used to sew up a storm of mine and my sister's clothes and costumes and blankets and anything else we needed. Moms are fantastic! The big window in the front used to be one big window, and I have lots of memories of my dad painting pictures to suit the holidays. It got lots of attention from neighbors. Ahh, memories! :) It was a great little house for 8.5 years of my life (or until I turned 12). This was also the place I learned to ride my dirt bike, and kissed my first boyfriend on the cheek. Well, that's all for now. I'm currently thirteen chapters into Beyond the Borders, officially off duty for writing tonight, and ready to put my wife hat on and enjoy Saturday night with no kids and dinner out! Hooray for that!!!
Take care all, and enjoy the rest of this fantastic weekend. M. |
Miranda Rae CarterWelcome to my blog. I hope you'll follow me or check back from time to time. I'll try to write about what's new with me and my novels, but that gets boring sometimes, so it may just be something inspiring or something cool that I heard and want to share with you. Enjoy! :) Archives
