Oh, It's February Already...

Dear Everyone,

I cannot believe it is February. I've just watched the start of the opening ceremony for Super Bowl and been covered in goosebumps by John Legend's legendary voice. Wow. He is amazing. I seriously can't get enough of his music and I'm so excited, watching this game!!

I have some really great news to tell you: Beyond the Borders is complete.

Not so great news: It still needs to be edited.

While I save for editing I'm diving right into book number three. My hope is that books two and three will come out within a few months of one another. I will be using FriesenPress to publish them, as FriesenPress has been an amazing help and I've been very happy with every aspect of Beneath the Surface on the publishing end.

Thank you so much for your patience. So many readers have said so many nice things, and I'm so grateful for everyone's kind words. It lifts my spirits and keeps me writing.

I'm keeping this short because I don't want to miss too much of the game, so I'll be in touch soon!

I Am No Longer On Twitter

9/21/2014

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to give everyone the heads up that I am no longer on Twitter. I've been trying my best to keep up with social media, but I'll be the first to admit that I'm struggling. I've been finding that having multiple SM sites are taking time away from what I need to be doing, and that is taking care of my family and writing. I love Twitter, it is such an amazing way to meet new, truly gifted individuals, keep up with the events of the world, and follow the beautifulness of your favourite people; however, I want to focus on my family and writing my novels, so I've chosen to stay on Facebook only, as it was my original SM site. When time permits, when my children are older, I will come back to Twitter. In the meantime, I'll post here frequently, and my posts will always link to Facebook.  I am so thankful for all of my Twitter followers, and I sincerely appreciate all of your past re-tweets and favourites. It meant the world to me.

Thank you for understanding.

Free Reads and Blog Hops

Hi Everyone,

It is September. Seriously. It's back to school time, and dive-deep-below-into-writing time. I really love this time of year, the weather is beautiful in B.C., and I look forward to comfort food season!

This past summer was really relaxing for my family and me; it was all about stay-cation and time together, until our first trip to Disneyland at the end of August, which was...magical.
Totally worth the months of saving up.

In the writing world, I've been working on Beyond the Borders, but not a rigidly as I will this fall. In summertime I want to be with my children every minute, because I miss them so much when they are in school. What I did do just this past week, in preparation for Beyond the Borders next year, is begin offering Beneath the Surface's e-book for free to the general public. The very fantastic Debra who owns Book Enthusiast Promotions has opened a reviewing group on Facebook. By joining the group, you can read a whole list of romance novels through Kindle or the Kindle app, including Beneath the Surface, just by providing a review within two weeks. There is no limit to the amount of books you may read, as long as you make the deadline. I think that is fantastic!!

To join the group, and request Beneath the Surface through Debra, just click here.

And some more good stuff:

This August
I was also tagged in a Blog-Hop by the lovely T. Rae Mitchell, author of Fate's Fables. Unfortunately, and, I believe, because of summer holidays, I couldn't find anyone to tag and continue the Blog-Hop, so I'm a miserable failure, to say the least! :) However, if you get a moment, please check out T. Rae Mitchell's Blog by clicking here. She has written this beautiful fantasy novel about a girl who gets trapped in a book of fables. I have it on my "Favourite Reads" list, because it is a truly wonderful read: Dark, YA fantasty, and so much more.

Click on here to be directed to her Amazon page, you won't be disappointed!

Anyway, I'm off to do what I do best, and that is being a mom.

Take care everyone. Happy reading, and I'll be in touch soon.

Talking about world building with Lynda K. Scott

8/4/2014

Hi Everyone,

I'm guest blogging with Lynda K. Scott about world building. If you're a writer, perhaps you've thought about writing a paranormal or fantasy novel, or you have one sitting under you bed that you're thinking about refreshing. Well, I've developed a checklist of everything I included in my own malion world, and I'm sharing it with you. Basically, it's my own personal checklist from an Excel spreadsheet, on top of my character sketches, that I follow strictly when I'm writing about the malions. When you're writing a series, it's imperative that details about characters and their world stay consistent throughout the manuscript, or they must have a very specific reason for changing.
Please feel free to stop by and learn about world building with me. I'd also love to hear what you think, or if you have any questions. I'd be happy to answer them this week.

Summer vacation, writer's block and a last and final Goodreads giveaway...

7/28/2014

Hi Everyone,

I hope your summer has been a fantastic one so far. In July and August, I like to keep things simple; I live by a strict schedule of school pick-ups, drop-offs and activities with  my kids during the school year, on top of work and keeping the house in some sort of order. In the simplicity of summertime, I also write a little less because I enjoy having my children home and spending as much time as I can with them, which means less time at the computer. What happens when I spend less time at the computer? Well, my mind goes a little crazy, plotting. Last night I spent a little time trying to figure out how to bridge the gap I've come to in Beyond the Borders, because I'm literally stuck for the time being until the characters figure out how they are going to get through it! In all that wasted time, asking myself question after question, I realized what was unfolding: the plot of the novella about Charlotte and Jordon I've been putting aside for later. Most importantly, the name came to me: The Deep End of Forever.  The name couldn't be more perfect for the Charlotte's short story, and now I want to get down to writing it, too. I hope after a month or two of writing this novella, I'll come to a conclusion of what needs to happen with Beyond the Borders. Writing a novel is such a journey. If I try to force events in one direction, I've found that I just end up deleting it all. It's like the characters get pissed off at me. Seriously.

So that's what is new with this series.

These past few months, I've taken a lot of time to promote Beneath the Surface, but now I need to focus on these books. On that note, I'm going to pull back from writing on Facebook and Twitter as frequently, for a while. I am, however, having one final giveaway on Goodreads for my Canadian and United States friends. The next one will be when the next novel/novella comes out (I'm not sure which one will be first).

Enjoy the rest of summer, everyone.

I'll be back in a while. :)

Cover Reveal! Because I just can't wait any longer...

So here it is.

It's been eating me alive, keeping this from you all, so today is the day. I contemplated a Scene
Hunt Sunday, but this is just so much funner.  This book will be much darker, and you'll get to know Rasadian much better. I'm so excited! This book should be ready for the publish button in 2015; depending on how fast we get through edits, I hope to have it to you in less than a year. Good things and polishing takes time. And you deserve my best.

Tell me what you think!

Happy Sunday Everyone,

M.

P.S. Happy Birthday, Rion and Rasadian.

Welcome to my blog. I hope you'll follow me or check back from time to time. I'll try to write about what's new with me and my novels, but that gets boring sometimes, so it may just be something inspiring or something cool that I heard and want to share with you. Enjoy! :)
